New OpenClicky for Windows 10 and 11

Ask your PC.
It shows you where.

Hold Ctrl + Win and ask out loud, and a pointer marks the answer on your screen. Hold right Ctrl and talk, and it types for you. A native Windows app, free and open source.

Windows 10 (2004 or later) and 11 · x64 and ARM64 · updates itself

Not sure which? Settings → System → About → System type. On a Mac? Get it for macOS

Illustration: on a Windows PC, someone holds Ctrl and Win and asks "where do I turn on battery saver?". The island at the top of the screen listens, and a pointer marks Battery saver in Settings.

The same pointer as on the Mac. It lives in the tray and the island at the top of your screen.

Installed in under a minute

  1. 1

    Run the installer

Open OpenClicky.Windows-…-Setup.exe. It installs for you alone, no admin password, and starts in the tray.

  2. 2

    Get past SmartScreen

It is not code-signed yet, so Windows may warn you. Choose More info, then Run anyway. You only do this once.

  3. 3

Hold Ctrl + Win and ask

Add your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, or a free account with just your email. From then on it updates itself.

The whole OpenClicky, on your PC

The Windows app is a native port (C#, .NET 8, WPF), contributed by Tan Wei Jie (Justin). It is MIT licensed like the rest of OpenClicky. Build it yourself, or read what works →

Questions

x64 or ARM64: which one do I need?

Most PCs, with an Intel or AMD processor, need x64. Laptops with a Snapdragon processor (many Copilot+ PCs) need ARM64. To check, open Settings → System → About and look at System type. In Chrome and Edge this page picks the right one for you.

Why does Windows warn me before it runs?

The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen does not recognise it. Choose More info, then Run anyway. The source is public on GitHub, and every release is built from it.

How does it update?

It checks for a new version when it starts and once a day, downloads it in the background and applies it when you quit. Settings → General → Updates has a Check now button.

Is it the same as the Mac app?

It is a port of it: pointing, dictation, spoken answers and the agent all work, with Windows keys instead of Mac ones. It uses the same settings file as the Mac app and the CLI, so your keys and free account carry over. The Windows README lists what works today.

Where can I get help?

Ask in the Discord or open an issue on GitHub. The app's log is in %LOCALAPPDATA%\OpenClicky\Logs\app.log; attaching it helps.
